Here at Why Not, we just made an informational flyer to help parents understand who we are and what we teach. We noticed that many students were missing class because their parents didn’t sign their permission forms. We hope parents will be more willing to allow their student to view our presentation after reading our mission statement, the impact of primary prevention programs, and our main teaching points. We received this comment from a student this last semester after viewing our presentation. We teach that it is ok to wait! Practicing maturity, building strong character, and utilizing boundaries and refusal skills can help us resist the pressures we face in life. In reality, 62% of high school students chose not to have sex while in high school. We are happy to know that this student may be feeling more confidence in a healthy decision.
